Description:This peptide was isolated from the insoluble core of Alzheimer's disease (AD) amyloid plaque. It is the fragment (61-95) of NACP or α-synuclein and forms amyloid fibrils via a nucleation-dependent polymerization mechanism. Accumulation of NAC aggregates in the synapse might be responsible for the neurodegeneration in AD and in the prion diseases.
